Schönebeck's municipal notgeld was printed locally by Gebrüder Wullstein, a regional firm based in the same town — an arrangement common among smaller German municipalities during the 1918–1921 small-change shortage, when central coin supply collapsed under postwar economic dislocation and Reichsbank notes were hoarded or simply unavailable in low denominations.
The Magistrat series from Schönebeck an der Elbe ran across multiple denominations and dates within this window. Values in fine or better condition are modestly collectible as provincial pieces, though the Wullstein printing is unexceptional technically.
