Obverse description At right, an allegorical female figure representing Sovereignty rendered as an intaglio vignette; the face value appears at centre within a decorative guilloche panel. At left, the national coat of arms is flanked by a reserved watermark area, with the full statutory promise-to-pay legend and date of authorising law inscribed across the note.

Reverse description The entire reverse is occupied by a large intaglio reproduction of Juan Manuel Blanes's celebrated historical painting Juramento de los Treinta y Tres (Oath of the Thirty-Three Orientals), capturing the patriots' pledge at the founding moment of Uruguayan independence. The denomination and issuing authority inscription appear in the upper and lower border panels in letterpress.
