Obverse description The obverse features the Cuban national coat of arms superimposed upon a large five-pointed star occupying the central field, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof background. The coat of arms displays the traditional quartered shield with a golden key, a sun rising over the sea, and a royal palm tree, surmounted by the Phrygian cap. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the lower portion of the central device. The circular legend reads REPUBLICA DE CUBA at the top and BANCO NACIONAL DE CUBA at centre, with the denomination 50 PESOS inscribed along the lower rim.
