| Obverse description | Black intaglio print on white paper with an elaborate guilloche border. The central vignette presents a standing allegorical male figure beside a pedestal, flanked by portrait medallions of two uniformed military officers at left and right; the denomination numeral 50 appears in each lower corner. The upper inscription reads PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES with the bank title at top left, and the lower text states CINCUENTA PESOS DE ORO along with a reference to the Ley Nacional of 8 de Noviembre de 1881; a SPECIMEN overprint and cancellation holes are present on this example. |

Each outer panel contains the numeral 50 within a circular lathe-work rosette, while the central panel carries a larger interlocking rosette of the same style. The bank title EL BANCO DE LA / PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES is inscribed in two arched lines at top and bottom respectively, with the printer's imprint American Bank Note Co.
