Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, rendered in fine detail with the traditional shield, Phrygian cap, oak and laurel branches, and rising sun motif. A curved legend naming the issuing republic arcs across the upper periphery, while the face value is inscribed below the arms. The weight and fineness designations flank the central device on either side. A continuous rope border frames the design close to the coin's edge.
