Obverse description Central vignette is an intaglio portrait of General Calixto García Iñiguez set within an oval frame at center, printed in black over a yellow guilloche underprint. A red seal of the Banco Nacional de Cuba appears at left, with serial numbers printed in red for the 1950 and 1958 issues and in black for the 1960 issue. Denomination numerals and bank title appear in the surrounding border panels.
Obverse lettering 50 50 BANCO NACIONAL DE CUBA CINCUENTA 50 PESOS CALIXTO GARCIA IÑIGUEZ GARANTIZADO INTEGRAMENTE CON EL ORO, CAMBIO EXTRANJERO CONVERTIBLE EN ORO Y TODOS LOS DEMÁS ACTIVOS DEL BANCO NACIONAL DE CUBA. ESTE BILLETE CONSTITUYE UNA OBLIGACIÓN DEL ESTADO CUBANO.
