| Beschrijving voorzijde | Fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, crowned and draped, wearing a pearl necklace and drop earring, as designed by Jody Clark. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper periphery, with ISLE OF MAN along the right, and the date 2020 positioned at the base of the heptagonal field. HMS Dido was a light cruiser, not a battleship — a distinction worth noting given the coin's catalog description. She led the Dido class, designed in the late 1930s as anti-aircraft escorts, and served extensively in the Mediterranean during some of the war's most punishing naval campaigns, including the evacuation of Crete in 1941 where she took a bomb hit to a forward turret. The Isle of Man has a long habit of issuing VE Day commemoratives under loose numismatic licensing arrangements, producing multiple gold proofs annually for the collector market rather than any circulatory purpose.
