Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, this coin commemorates the Vickers Wellington, the twin-engine bomber that formed the backbone of RAF Bomber Command's early war offensive. In 1940, Wellingtons flew the first bombing raid on Berlin — a direct response to the Luftwaffe's accidental bombing of London — a decision that shifted German strategic focus from RAF airfields to British cities, a tactical error that arguably saved Fighter Command from collapse.
