Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, rendered in the second portrait by Arnold Machin, depicted with a diademed and elaborately coiffed hairstyle with a braided bun. The truncated draped bust occupies the central field, with the legend ELIZABETH THE SECOND arcing around the upper periphery in capital letters. The date 1979 is inscribed along the lower margin, flanked by two raised dots, with the Pobjoy Mint privy mark visible at the left of the date. The design is executed in high relief against a smooth, unadorned field.
