| Popis rubu | The reverse presents a striking colored commemorative design marking the centenary of the First World War's end. To the left of the field stands a relief depiction of a uniformed World War I British soldier in three-quarter view, rendered against a darkened background. The right side and upper border of the coin are adorned with vivid red-colored Flanders poppies with black centres, a universally recognised symbol of remembrance. The war years '1914' and '1918' are prominently inscribed in large numerals to the upper centre, beneath which the commemorative legend 'THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE' and the armistice date reference 'XI.XI.XI' are inscribed in the field. The denomination '50 PENCE' appears within a raised circular cartouche at the base of the design. |
