| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse, designed by Dominique Evans, commemorates the 50th anniversary of Decimal Day on 15 February 1971, the date Britain adopted its decimal currency system. The composition features overlapping representations of pre-decimal coinage — including fragments of a shilling, halfpenny, and other coins bearing Britannia, heraldic lions, and floral emblems — arranged as a dynamic collage surrounding a central heptagonal cartouche. Within the cartouche, the inscription 1971 / DECIMAL / DAY is prominently displayed in raised lettering. The engraver's initials DME appear to the lower right of the field. |
