A newspaper vendor prominently displays a billboard board reading VE-DAY!, while figures to either side — one reading a newspaper, another smiling in wartime dress — convey the euphoria of the moment; the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) rises in the background. The upper portion of the field carries gold-plated lettering THIS IS YOUR VICTORY in bold headline typography, and the lower register bears the gold-plated legend VE DAY. "READ ALL ABOUT IT!". The denomination 50p appears to the lower right in the silver field. |
