The Palace of Holyroodhouse sits at the foot of Edinburgh's Royal Mile and has served as the official Scottish residence of the British monarch since the 16th century — yet its connection to Jersey is ceremonial rather than geographic. Jersey's Royal Mint partnership issues of this type are part of a broader commemorative series tied to Charles III's accession, capitalizing on collector demand generated by the 2022 succession rather than any event specific to the Bailiwick.
Holyroodhouse gained particular historical notoriety as the residence of Mary, Queen of Scots, and the site of the murder of her secretary David Rizzio in 1566.
