| Reverse description | A detailed architectural rendering of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Scottish royal residence in Edinburgh, fills the upper portion of the reverse field, depicted in a fine engraved elevation view against a stippled background suggestive of sky. The lower register of the field contains the two-line inscription THE PALACE OF HOLYROODHOUSE in bold raised lettering, accompanied by a fleur-de-lis device to the right of the first line. The denomination 50p appears at the base of the coin, flanked on either side by additional fleur-de-lis ornaments, referencing the heraldic tradition of the Bailiwick of Jersey. The design is by Quentin Peacock. |
