Obverse description Uncrowned right-facing effigy of King Charles III after the portrait by Quentin Peacock, rendered in high relief against a polished field. The king is depicted in a mature, naturalistic style without regalia. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the left periphery and BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY along the right, both in raised capital letters following the heptagonal coin form. The date 2024 appears in the lower exergual area, flanked by two raised dots.

Additional information

The Gold State Coach depicted here has carried every British monarch to their coronation since George IV in 1821, making it among the most continuously active ceremonial vehicles in the world. It was last used in full procession at Charles III's coronation in May 2023 — a journey of roughly one mile from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey that the coach's notoriously uncomfortable suspension made feel considerably longer, by most accounts.

Guernsey issues commemoratives under its own Crown Dependency authority, independent of Royal Mint production runs.
