| 背面描述 | A dynamic engraving of a Supermarine Spitfire in attack formation dominates the central field, depicted in three-quarter view with squadron code markings visible on the fuselage. Stylised clouds rendered in low relief form the background. The legend BATTLE OF BRITAIN 85 arcs across the upper portion of the field, with small decorative star devices flanking the text. The Royal Air Force roundel and logotype appear to the lower left, while the denomination 50p is inscribed to the lower right. The inscription SPITFIRE ATTACK, flanked by small aircraft silhouettes, appears along the lower arc. |

Guernsey's position in the Battle of Britain narrative is uncomfortable history: the island was evacuated and then occupied by German forces from June 1940, making it the only British territory to fall under Nazi occupation during the war. The RAF fought to defend a homeland that included a Channel Island already lost. This piece enters a well-saturated commemorative market — the 84th anniversary of the battle carries no particular significance, and gold-plated copper-nickel issues from Crown dependencies have proliferated to the point of collector fatigue.
