备注	Verlag Die Stimme vom Rhein — "The Voice of the Rhine" — was a Cologne publishing house, not a bank or municipality. That a private press was issuing emergency currency in 1922 is less strange than it sounds: German notgeld production had by that point become so decentralized that publishers, breweries, and local merchants were all printing their own scrip to compensate for the chronic coin shortage and the Reichsbank's inability to keep pace with inflation. Whether this note saw genuine local circulation or was produced partly with collector demand in mind is the real question. By 1922 the notgeld market had split decisively between functional emergency money and deliberately decorative issues sold to philatelists. Cologne publishers knew both markets well.
