| 备注 |
Landsberg an der Warthe — now Gorzów Wielkopolski in western Poland — issued this 50 Mark note during the hyperinflationary spiral of 1922, when municipal and regional authorities across Germany were printing their own emergency currency (Notgeld) simply to keep wages paid and commerce moving. The Reichsbank could not print fast enough. Local magistrates filled the gap.
Carl Flemming A.G. of Glogau was a well-established commercial printer with a long track record in maps and book printing — not a specialist security printer. The presence of a watermark is worth noting given that background; it suggests the magistrat was at least attempting minimal anti-counterfeiting provisions at a moment when the notes' face value was depreciating faster than the ink could dry.
