The denomination LIRE CINQUANTA and issuer name BANCA D'ITALIA appear in bold letterpress at centre, above the legend PAGABILI A VISTA AL PORTATORE, with two facsimile signatures below for IL GOVERNATORE and IL CASSIERE. The overprint SERIE SPECIALE AFRICA ORIENTALE ITALIANA runs across the top margin in red, with a further red legend along the bottom restricting circulation to Italian East Africa. |

To the left, a circular red overprint medallion inscribed OTTOBRE 1922 with a fasces device is printed in letterpress. A large blank circular cartouche occupies the right field, framed by ornamental scrollwork, with the numeral 50 and LIRE in a cartouche at lower right. The entire composition is enclosed within a decorative floral and foliate border with corner ornaments. |
