| 背面描述 | The reverse depicts a detailed cartographic composition commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Piri Reis world map of 1513. At centre, a portrait bust of the Ottoman admiral and cartographer Piri Reis, turbaned and bearded, is set within a circular medallion. The surrounding field features an intricate rendering of rhumb lines and wind roses characteristic of portolan charts, overlaid with depictions of period sailing vessels at various points. A twisted rope border frames the inner design. The commemorative dates '1513-2013' appear in the lower exergue, with the circular legend along the rim reading 'PİRİ REİS'İN DÜNYA HARİTASININ 500. YILI'. |

Piri Reis completed his famous world map in 1513, and its depiction of the South American coastline with striking accuracy — drawn nearly two decades before European explorers had fully charted it — has fueled genuine scholarly debate and considerable pseudohistorical speculation ever since. The Ottoman admiral compiled it from roughly twenty source charts, including what he claimed were maps used by Columbus himself.
This coin was issued on the map's 500th anniversary.
