By 1960, the Ankara banknote printing works had been running long enough to introduce subtle series variations that create genuine confusion for collectors today. This particular note is distinguished by the absence of the "SERİ" prefix that appears on related emissions — a detail that sounds minor until you're trying to attribute a note correctly. The brown reverse color further separates it from the series' other printings.
Turkey's central bank had moved its printing operations in-house in 1955, and the mid-period 50 Lira issues from this facility reflect the iterative adjustments typical of a relatively young national press finding its footing with security specifications.
