| Beschrijving keerzijde | A three-quarter facing portrait bust of the Romanian-Moldovan polymath and writer Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu occupies the right portion of the field, rendered in high relief with fine detail depicting his full beard and period attire. His right hand is raised to his chin in a contemplative pose, and an open book or manuscript is partially visible to his left. The arched legend BOGDAN PETRICEICU HASDEU runs along the upper rim, while the birth and death years 1838 and 1907 are inscribed in two lines to the left of the portrait against the mirror-polished proof field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu was among the most restlessly productive intellectuals of 19th-century Romania — philologist, historian, playwright, and folklorist simultaneously, at a time when those disciplines were still being defined in the region. His magnum opus, the etymological dictionary *Etymologicum Magnum Romaniae*, was left unfinished at his death in 1907, consumed in part by years he spent attempting to communicate with his deceased daughter Iulia through spiritualist séances — a fixation that cost him the final productive decade of his career.
Moldova's commemorative silver program has consistently used the 50 Lei denomination for figures claimed by both Romanian and Moldovan cultural heritage. Hasdeu was born in Cristești, in what is now the Republic of Moldova.
