Aanvullende informatie

The 2004 Malawian 50 Kwacha bimetallic series was part of a wave of large-format collector issues produced by smaller nations under licensing arrangements with private minting companies — in this case themed around the Republic of China (Taiwan), almost certainly tied to diplomatic and financial relations between Taipei and Lilongwe. Malawi maintained formal recognition of the ROC rather than the PRC for much of this period, one of a shrinking number of African states to do so.

At 141 grams and 65mm, these were never intended for circulation.
