| 备注 |
The Banque Impériale Ottomane issued this 50 Kuruş note during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–78, a conflict that placed severe strain on Ottoman finances. The war forced the empire to suspend specie payments and flood circulation with small-denomination paper — something Ottoman subjects had historically resisted. Notes of this type were effectively a fiscal emergency measure, covering a gap that coinage could no longer fill as silver was hoarded or simply unavailable.
The sole security feature was an official seal, which proved inadequate. Contemporary accounts record widespread counterfeiting of these low-denomination wartime issues.
