Weissenkirchen bei Frankenmarkt is a small Upper Austrian village, and this 50 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept Austria between 1919 and 1921 — a direct consequence of the currency chaos following Habsburg dissolution and the acute small-coin shortage that left municipal governments no practical alternative to self-issue.
