| 表面の説明 | Notgeld voucher of characteristic hourglass-waisted format printed in brown tones on cream paper, with a dense typographic underprint of repeated '50 Heller' text covering the entire field. The central panel bears the denomination numeral '50h' in large script lettering within a diamond-shaped ornamental frame, above the issuer inscription 'der Markt-Gemeinde St. Georgen a. d. Gusen'. Flanking side vignettes contain fine landscape engravings: to the left, a Gothic church tower amid hills; to the right, a river valley scene with rocky terrain, the latter initialled 'A.B.' |

Sankt Georgen an der Gusen is a market town in Upper Austria, and this 50 Heller note is a Notgeld issue — emergency municipal scrip printed to address the catastrophic small-coin shortage that gripped Austria in the years immediately following the collapse of the Habsburg state. The Oesterreichisch-ungarische Bank's coin production had effectively ceased, and towns of every size were left to fend for themselves. Hundreds of municipalities issued their own paper in denominations nobody had bothered with before.
The JPR0886I series from this commune is modestly documented. Survival rates for small-town Austrian Notgeld vary enormously — many were cancelled and pulped once the federal coinage situation stabilized around 1921–22.
