| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse, printed in brown on plain unadorned paper, carries a four-line rhyming verse in Gothic script at the upper left referencing the wine country of Poysdorf and the shortage of small change. Below, a substantial block of Gothic text sets out the legal terms of issue: the municipality of Poysdorf issues interest-free Kassenscheine to a total value of 100,000 Kronen, accepted in payment until 31 December 1920 and redeemable in lawful currency between 16 and 31 December 1920. A final line in larger type warns that counterfeiting is punishable by law. |
Dezember 1920 in gesetzlichem Bargelde eingelöst. Die Nachahmung wird gesetzlich bestraft. |

Poysdorf is a small market town in Lower Austria's wine country, and this 50 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept through Austrian municipalities after the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system. The central government was unable to supply adequate small change, so thousands of communes — down to the village level — printed their own emergency currency between roughly 1919 and 1921. Poysdorf was one of hundreds that did so, legally and with local administrative authority.
The Jaksc catalog reference places this in the broader Austrian Notgeld classification. Surviving examples from small market towns like Poysdorf tend to be in better condition than urban issues — lower circulation, more likely kept as souvenirs from the moment of issue.
