Austrian municipal notgeld, issued by the small Salzburg-district village of Oberalm during the severe coin shortage that gripped Austria from roughly 1919 onward. Hundreds of municipalities issued their own emergency pfennig- and heller-denomination notes during this period; Oberalm's 50 Heller falls squarely within that wave. The Jaksch/Pick reference places it in the established notgeld series, but there is nothing in the available data to distinguish this particular issue from its peers in terms of printing origin, emission circumstances, or known variants.
