| Descrizione del rovescio | Blue-toned reverse with a decorative geometric border and large spiral guilloche roundels at the upper corners, each bearing the numeral '50'. The word 'GUTSCHEIN' appears in stylised gothic lettering across the top centre, flanked by the numerals '50' on either side below the roundels. The main field carries a full handwritten-style gothic text block setting out the municipality's undertaking to redeem the voucher, dated 'in Mai 1920' and signed by the Bürgermeister and two Gemeinderäte at the foot. A vertical panel at the right edge bears the denomination 'FÜNFZIG HELLER' in large ornamental lettering. |

Meggenhofen is a small rural commune in Upper Austria, and this 50 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept Austrian municipalities between 1919 and 1921. With the postwar collapse of the Habsburg monetary system and chronic small-change shortages, thousands of towns — including ones far too small to have any business issuing currency — printed their own emergency money. Meggenhofen had a population that barely warranted a post office, let alone a note-issuing authority.
The Jaksch cataloguing designation places this firmly in the Upper Austrian regional series. Single-issue, single-denomination — no continuation series followed.
