| Описание лицевой стороны | The left panel of this Notgeld Gutschein carries a central landscape vignette engraved in brown, presenting a panoramic view of the Lunzer See with a sailboat on the water, alpine mountains and a castle ruin in the background, framed by an ornate cartouche with scrollwork and flanked on both sides by large edelweiss blossoms rendered in fine line work. Denomination numerals '50' appear in boxed type at upper left and upper right, with the title 'GUTSCHEIN / FÜNFZIG HELLER' between them and the designer credit 'ENTWORFEN VON E. DIEMBERGER' above. Below the vignette, facsimile signatures of the Vizebürgermeister, the Bürgermeister, and a Gemeinderat appear above the issuer inscription 'GEMEINDE LUNZ AM SEE'; a vertical panel to the right bears a four-line German verse with a boxed '50' alongside. |

Lunz am See is a small lakeside village in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of Austrian municipalities it issued its own emergency currency — Notgeld — during and after the First World War when coin shortages made small-denomination transactions nearly impossible. These local issues were authorized under wartime necessity, not monetary policy, and the Gemeinde itself bore responsibility for redemption.
E. Diemberger's credit on a village Notgeld is worth noting; locally commissioned designers were common, and the JPR reference confirms this as one of several Lunz denominations in the series.
