Denomination numerals '50' appear in boxed type at upper left and upper right, with the title 'GUTSCHEIN / FÜNFZIG HELLER' between them and the designer credit 'ENTWORFEN VON E. DIEMBERGER' above. Below the vignette, facsimile signatures of the Vizebürgermeister, the Bürgermeister, and a Gemeinderat appear above the issuer inscription 'GEMEINDE LUNZ AM SEE'; a vertical panel to the right bears a four-line German verse with a boxed '50' alongside. |

Lunz am See is a small lakeside village in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of Austrian municipalities it issued its own emergency currency — Notgeld — during and after the First World War when coin shortages made small-denomination transactions nearly impossible. These local issues were authorized under wartime necessity, not monetary policy, and the Gemeinde itself bore responsibility for redemption.
E. Diemberger's credit on a village Notgeld is worth noting; locally commissioned designers were common, and the JPR reference confirms this as one of several Lunz denominations in the series.
