A central circular vignette, surrounded by a rope-twist guilloche ring, presents a view of the Gmunden parish church with its characteristic onion-domed tower. The denomination numeral '50' appears in large bold type at upper left and upper right, with the legend 'FÜNFZIG HELLER' across the top, and the issuer name 'STADTGEMEINDE GMUNDEN' in bold lettering across the lower portion.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse, printed in blue ink on grey paper, carries a central text panel bordered by a plain rectangular frame with decorative chain and geometric ornaments on the left and right margins. The Gmunden municipal coat of arms is printed to the left of the panel, and the Austrian eagle emblem to the right. The text panel states the voucher redemption conditions, the issuing date, and bears the facsimile signature of the Bürgermeister (mayor) below the designation 'DER BÜRGERMEISTER:'. Opmerkingen

Gmunden's 50 Heller Notgeld of 1920 belongs to the sprawling Austrian emergency currency phenomenon that followed the collapse of the Habsburg state — municipal and regional bodies filling the vacuum left by a central government unable to supply adequate small change. The Salzkammergut-Druckerei, a local press, handled production entirely within Gmunden itself, which was unusual enough; many comparable towns sent their Notgeld commissions to Vienna or Graz.

The JPR0240IIe designation within the Jaksc catalogue indicates this is one of several distinct type variants within the Gmunden series, differentiated by design or printing details rather than denomination alone.
