The 50 Heller denomination sits at the practical centre of Austrian municipal emergency currency — small enough to substitute for absent coinage, large enough to matter for daily transactions. What distinguishes this note from mass-produced municipal issues is the involvement of a locally credited designer, R. Kasberger of Algen, a hamlet within the Eberstallzell commune itself.
The Pressverein-Druckerei in Wels handled printing for numerous Upper Austrian Notgeld issues during this period, making attribution straightforward.
