The Institut d'Émission d'Outre-Mer issues currency exclusively for France's Pacific collectivities — New Caledonia, French Polynesia, and Wallis and Futuna — operating under a framework established in 1966 to replace the CFP franc notes previously managed through the Banque de l'Indochine. The "Non-Magnetic" designation in the catalog name exists because this type replaced an earlier nickel-steel version, the distinction mattering practically to vending machine operators and automated sorting equipment across the islands.
CFP franc coins are struck at the Monnaie de Paris.
