| 正面描述 | Printed in blue on beige paper by lithography, the note carries an ornate Art Nouveau-style border of scrollwork and foliate motifs at all four corners and along the margins. The issuing authority "COMMUNE DE BLANDAIN / BELGIQUE - HAINAUT" is set at the top, with the legend "BON DE MONNAIE" in large bold type below; the denomination "CINQUANTE FRANCS" appears in white letters on a solid black rectangular panel at centre, flanked left and right by the numeral "50". Below the denomination panel, the guarantee text reads "GARANTI SUR ENCAISSE PLACÉ EN RENTE SUR L'ÉTAT / APPROUVÉ PAR DÉLIBÉRATION DU CONSEIL COMMUNAL", followed by the date "LE 17 JANVIER 1915" and two manuscript signatures for the Secrétaire and the Bourgmestre; the printer's imprint "LITH. & CART. DE TOURNAI SOC. ANO." appears at the foot. |

Blandain is a small village just east of Tournai, occupied by German forces from August 1914. Like hundreds of Belgian communes during the occupation, it issued its own emergency paper money after metal coinage disappeared almost immediately into German requisitioning and civilian hoarding. The Société Anonyme de Lithographie & Cartonnage de Tournai supplied these notes locally — the printer was barely five kilometers from the issuing authority, which was entirely typical for the region's commune notes.
The official stamp serves as the primary authentication device, a common solution when engraved security printing was neither available nor affordable under occupation conditions.
