The inscription ESSAI appears in small letters above the numeral near the top of the inner field, denoting the trial or pattern status of this piece. The entire central design is framed by an ornate wreath composed of stylized agricultural and botanical elements, including cocoa pods, coffee branches, cotton bolls with open flowers, and cereal ears, symbolizing the natural wealth of the member states. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Banque Centrale des États de l'Afrique Équatoriale et du Cameroun was a transitional institution, established as France's former Equatorial African territories moved toward monetary independence following decolonization. Essai pieces from this issuer are pattern strikes produced for official approval — not distributed through commerce — making survivors almost entirely the product of archival dispersal or original presentation sets rather than circulation finds.
The bank itself was short-lived, replaced by the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale in 1972.
