| 背面描述 | The reverse depicts the iconic cartoon figure of Little Nicholas in full stride, running to the right with a schoolbag in hand, rendered in the expressive line-drawing style of Sempé with a colorized red tie applied in enamel. The denomination '50 euro' is inscribed in large stylized numerals to the left of the central motif. The legend 'LE PETIT NICOLAS ®' curves along the upper rim, while the facsimile signatures of Sempé and René Goscinny appear below the figure. The date '2014' is inscribed at the bottom of the field, flanked by the copyright notice '© IMAV édition/Goscinny - Sempé' along the lower rim. |

Issued to mark the 55th anniversary of René Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempé's beloved comic strip character, this coin was part of Monnaie de Paris's broader push into collectible themed gold during the 2010s. Goscinny had died in 1977, leaving Sempé as the sole surviving creator — the anniversary series was effectively the first major official numismatic recognition of the property.
The .920 fineness is a holdover from older French gold coinage tradition rather than the modern investment-coin standard of .999, giving the piece a warmer color that suits the commemorative intent.
