Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the 55th anniversary of René Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempé's beloved comic strip character, this coin was part of Monnaie de Paris's broader push into collectible themed gold during the 2010s. Goscinny had died in 1977, leaving Sempé as the sole surviving creator — the anniversary series was effectively the first major official numismatic recognition of the property.

The .920 fineness is a holdover from older French gold coinage tradition rather than the modern investment-coin standard of .999, giving the piece a warmer color that suits the commemorative intent.
