Obverse description Central field features a stylized effigy of Marianne, the allegorical figure of the French Republic, depicted facing slightly left with flowing hair adorned with a crown of European stars, set within a circular cartouche. Surrounding the central portrait, diagonal geometric bands intersect the field in a dynamic Baroque-inspired composition, with the mintmark and date 2018 inscribed in the lower left. The Euro symbol accompanied by a star motif appears at the bottom of the field. The circular legend reads EUROPE BAROQUE & ROCOCO and RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE distributed around the outer band in large incuse lettering.

Additional information

Part of the Monnaie de Paris "Masterpieces of French Museums" series, this issue draws on collections held across French national institutions — a program that required negotiated reproduction rights with individual museums, complicating and extending the production timeline considerably. The selective gilding is applied galvanically, not by leaf, isolating specific relief elements with a precision that traditional gilding methods cannot achieve at this scale.
