Obverse description The obverse features a stylised geometric effigy of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg facing right, rendered in a modernist artistic style by engraver Yvette Gastauer-Claire. The portrait is encircled by the inscription 'LËTZEBUERG', the Luxembourgish name for the country, along with the year of issue. The twelve stars of the European Union are arranged around the periphery of the field. The engraver's initials 'GC' and, on issues from the Royal Dutch Mint, the mint mark 'S' appear in the lower legend.
