Beneath the horse, a stylised geometric latticework pattern radiates outward, representing Italy's artistic and cultural heritage and serving as the distinctive design element of engraver Roberto Mauri. The mint mark 'R' appears to the left of the horse, with the monogram of the Italian Republic 'RI' to the right, and twelve five-pointed stars encircle the entire composition along the rim. The issue year is inscribed at the base of the design in the lower field. |
