The seal depicts a traditional Marshallese stick chart navigation device as a central motif, flanked by an outrigger sailing canoe to the right and a palm-lined islet to the left, with a radiant sun above and crossed traditional implements in the upper field. The denomination '$50' appears to the left of the seal and the date '1991' to the right, both within the border. The circular legend 'REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS' arcs around the upper periphery, while the national motto 'JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN' is inscribed along the lower border. |

The IL-2 Shturmovik was produced in greater numbers than any other military aircraft in history — over 36,000 built — and Stalin reportedly sent a furious telegram to factory directors in 1941 warning that the Red Army needed the aircraft "like air, like bread." The Marshall Islands ran an extensive commemorative program throughout the early 1990s targeting the collector market directly, with this piece among dozens issued under a licensing arrangement that had no connection to the subjects depicted beyond the royalty structure.
