Obverse description Printed in shades of purple and green on a multicolour guilloche underprint, the obverse carries the bank title 'Standard Chartered Bank' and its Chinese equivalent 香港渣打銀行 at the top, with the promise-to-pay clause and denomination 'Fifty Dollars / 伍拾圓' in the central field rendered in intaglio script. To the right stands an intaglio vignette of a Chinese guardian lion (foo dog) resting on a decorative plinth, while the large numeral '5' appears in latent-image print at the far left and right margins alongside the serial number.
