Obverse description The obverse displays the official seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands at center, featuring a stylized frigate bird with spread wings above a traditional Marshallese outrigger sailing canoe and a rocket, set against a landscape with palm trees and mountains. A radiant sun appears at the top of the seal, flanked by crossed navigational sticks, with a blimp visible to the upper left and a fish trap motif to the upper right. The seal is inscribed with the word SEAL at its base. The circular outer border consists of a decorative chain-link pattern. The legend REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS arcs along the upper field, the denomination $50 appears to the left, the date 1989 to the right, and the Marshallese national motto JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN runs along the lower border.
