| Reverse description | The reverse features a finely detailed depiction of a red kangaroo in full bound, facing left, set against an Australian outback landscape with native scrub and grasses rendered in low relief. A large stylised sun disc occupies the central background behind the kangaroo. The legend AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO arcs along the upper periphery, while the inscription 2015 1/2oz 9999 GOLD appears along the lower rim. The Perth Mint's P mintmark is situated to the right of the design, and the engraver's initials WR are discreetly incorporated into the field. |

| Additional information |
Australia's gold kangaroo bullion series has used an annually changing reverse design since 1990 — a deliberate strategy by the Perth Mint to encourage year-on-year collector demand alongside standard bullion buying. The 2015 issue falls within the period when Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Elizabeth II was still in use on Commonwealth coinage, before Jody Clark's fifth portrait began replacing it across Australian issues from 2016 onward.
