Další informace	The Marshall Islands gained the authority to issue its own coinage in 1986 under the Compact of Free Association with the United States, which came into force that same year. This $50 gold piece was among the inaugural issues, struck to mark that transition to self-governance — but it was never legal tender in any practical sense, as the US dollar remained the circulating currency. Produced in fractional gold at 7.78g of .9999 fine, the issue was aimed squarely at the collector market from the outset.
