| Описание реверса | Central device depicts a traditional North African shaduf-style irrigation well rendered in three-quarter perspective, conveying the architectural solidity of ancient water-lifting technology. To the right of the well, a circular latent image security feature is incorporated into the field, alternately displaying a star or a crescent depending on the viewing angle. A ring of fourteen five-pointed stars encircles the entire central design, forming a decorative and security-enhancing border. The curved Latin legend 'Central Bank of Libya' arcs along the upper periphery above the star ring. |

Libya's 2014 coinage was issued while the country was fracturing between rival governments — the internationally recognized Council of Deputies based in Tobruk and the Tripoli-based General National Congress both claiming legitimacy following the collapse of the post-Gaddafi transitional period. The Central Bank of Libya, physically located in Tripoli, managed to maintain nominal monetary authority throughout the split, though its practical reach across the country was severely compromised.
Copper-nickel plated steel replaced solid copper-nickel in this series largely as a cost-reduction measure common to central banks managing currencies under economic duress.
