Andorra had no formal mint of its own in 1965 and relied on the Casa de la Moneda in Madrid for struck coinage. This issue was produced under the authority of the Casa de la Vall, the medieval building in Andorra la Vella that has served as the Andorran parliament since the 16th century — one of the smallest legislative chambers in the world by both physical scale and membership.
