| Obverse description | The quartered coat of arms of Andorra occupies the central field, displaying the episcopal mitre and crozier in the upper-left quarter, vertical stripes of the Count of Foix in the upper-right, the stripes of Catalonia in the lower-left, and two bulls passant representing the Bishop of Urgell in the lower-right. Andorra had no formal coinage tradition of its own until the late twentieth century — the co-principality functioned for centuries on a patchwork of French and Spanish currency circulating by custom rather than legal tender law. This 1960 gold issue was produced not for circulation but for the collector market, part of an early wave of Andorran numismatic pieces that predated the principality's later official series by decades.
