An arching Arabic celebratory legend curves along the upper border of the coin, while the lower field continues the commemorative inscription. Kuwait's 50th anniversary of the dinar fell in 2011, marking half a century since the currency was introduced in 1961 following independence from Britain — the dinar replacing the Gulf rupee at a rate that immediately established it as one of the region's stronger units. This gilt variant, distinguished from the standard silver issue by KM#41, was produced in strictly limited numbers as a prestige release through the Central Bank directly.
At five troy ounces of fine silver, the specification places it firmly in the bullion-medal category rather than anything intended for circulation.
